The Modern Opium of Entertainment
We are surrounded by “entertainment”. Is it for our own good? Or to appease us?
Last year, I wrote and article on how Netflix is costing you $13,437.86 per year. Now, of course, everyone knows that the cost of Netflix is something under $15/month (I haven’t been a subscriber for years). The bigger question I had raised was: How much time was being wasted on Netflix every year at the average American hourly compensation.
Avoiding the problem
Boy did it rustle some jimmies. People went berserk in the comments of that article. It seemed I had struck a sensitive chord amongst the masses. Challenging them on the idea that they might be waisting their lives by watching their precious Breaking Bad or Casa de Papel and whatnot made most very angry.
You don’t have to take my word for it, here are a few quotes from the comments:
“this is bad and you should be ashamed.”
“This is such a narrow-minded capitalistic view.”
“I guess i should start writing dumb articles on Median and $$$ for dumb posts.”
